Snowy Owl

Every five to seven years, large numbers of snowy owls appear further south than normal. In 2005-06, the owls showed up all the way down in California. The large white owls sit on low-lying logs and bushes where they roost, preen and hunt all day long. In the spring, they return to the Arctic to nest.
